Frequently Asked Questions
Why isn't your website as badly designed as other paranormal websites?
I don't use automatic writing to create my code.
Can I use some of the articles on this website for my homework or research?
Feel free to use anything that you find on this website. You can quote mendhak.com as a reference if you wish to do so.
What does your logo mean?
It's a red herring.
Wasn't this website once in PHP?
PHP has been abandoned due to its limitations, I've moved on to ASP.NET which offers a more powerful web development model.
How often do you update the site/add a new article?
It's truly random.
Can I submit my articles to you?
Yes, email it to webmaster at mendhak dot com. Keep in mind, though, that the article needs to be properly written and shouldn't appear to be a random set of poorly patched together thoughts. I am also a major stickler for spelling and punctuation (though I may have made a few mistakes). Also, make sure you include your name and optionally, a website to which you would like the article to be linked back to.
When will you add something to the Mendhak section?
I know, it's been 6 years. I've finally started...
Why don't you start a forum?
There are already several paranormal forums out there. To create another would simply create more estranged groups of people who could potentially be in one place discussing views. Admittedly, several forums out there do tend to suffer from what can be referred to as polarization: It's either a group of believers or skeptics but not both together. If you are looking for paranormal forums, try a search. One that I would recommend is Fortean Times.
How can I comment on your article(s)?
Email me or use the guestbook.
Are you a skeptic or a believer?
My interest is in studying the topics rather than finding a set of beliefs or disbeliefs.
Why is your website black?
Don't be silly.
Is this a blog?
A blog consists of either links to news articles which you could probably find yourself, or a set of posts with pointless opinions often decorated with out-of-place exclamation marks and question marks; this is a common symptom of something I refer to as blogal warming - the exponentially increasing set of blogs polluting the atmosphere of the world wide web. This is not a blog. There is, however, a thoughts section, which would make it a partial blog. I hereby coin a new redundant buzzword, parlog. I hope you subscribe to my parlogcast and here's hoping that you make your own contributions to the parlogosphere.
How can I add my website to your links page?
Email me with your URL and link back to my website on your links page. As usual.
No adverts? How do you fund this site?
I have a job and work on this website as a hobby. I do not like ads on a website as they are rather annoying and obtrusive, nor do I need the extra income. It's sometimes nice to just visit a website that is more about content rather than income. Besides, what could the adverts possibly be about? Paranormal dating, viagra for ghosts and mythological mortgages? Meet Loch Ness Monsters in your area...
I am a spambot, can I fill your guestbook with meaningless entries and keywords?
Yes, go ahead! But I've set a noindex, nofollow on those pages so it will not be seen by search engines, ever. And I'll delete them.
Why did you stop writing about the new information on the Oak Island Mysteries?
The theories started off with a lot of sense and rationality, but they entered somewhat exaggerated realms after a while in a manner that was never explained properly to me by the author. As a result, I had to stop, but the page remains in place to give you an introduction to the gist of the theory.
